July 18, 2019 9:57pm

A two-day weather delay proved to be no problem for Pocahontas Area, as the Indians won their 10th straight game, defeating Okoboji 10-1 on Thursday in a 2A baseball district semifinal.

RBI's by Trey Oehlertz, Thomas Melohn, and Chase Cook lifted the Indians to a 3-0 lead after two innings.  After Okoboji scored a run in the 5th, Poky broke it open with three in the 5th, and four more in the 6th.

Christian Davidson went the district for the win, throwing a six-hitter with two strikeouts, and had three of the Indians 11 hits, including a triple and two doubles, with three runs scored and an RBI.  Trevor Frerk also had three hits.

While the Pioneers season concludes at 12-14, Pocahontas Area is now 23-4.  The Indians will play at Estherville Lincoln Center in a district final on Saturday night at 7pm.  The game will be broadcast on 92.9FM KKIA.  ELC won their district semifinal over Spirit Lake 2-0.  It'll be a rematch of a district final a season ago, which ELC won 4-3.
