Tornadoes pick up win over Mustangs

Storm Lake took advantange of Newell-Fonda's lack of control on the mound as the Tornadoes beat the Mustangs 13-2 in 5 innings in Fonda Tuesday night. Storm Lake jumped out to a 2-1 lead after one inning but blew the game open in the 2nd when they plated seven runs. The Tornadoes added one more in the third and three runs in the 5th.

Newell-Fonda pitching gave up 13 walks and the Mustangs committed 7 errors as they drop to 5 -4 overall. Storm Lake improves to 8-2. Leadin the way at the plate was Kayfrin Pelep who went 2 for 2 with 2 RBIs and 2 runs scored. Mark Eddie went 2 for 3 with 2 RBIS and 3 runs scored. The Mustangs garnered only 4 hits off starter Pelep who struck out 7 and walked one.

The Tornadoes play again Thursday at Emmetsburg and their game Friday at E-L-C will be broadcast on 92.9FM KKIA.  The Mustangs play again tonight against Alta-Aurelia.
