Wanted Storm Lake Man Arrested on Numerous Charges After Leading Authorities on a Pursuit

A wanted Storm Lake man has been arrested on multiple charges following a pursuit.

According to the Storm Lake Police Department, an officer observed a wanted individual identified as 37-year-old Rick Shed of Storm Lake at approximately 1pm Thursday operating a Black 2011 Ford F150 in the 400 block of Expansion Boulevard. As the officer attempted to conduct a traffic stop, police allege Shed accelerated in his vehicle and fled from the officer. Storm Lake Police pursued Shed as he traveled several blocks until the pursuit was abandoned by police due to safety concerns. Police advised that Shed continued to drive at a high rate of speed after the pursuit ended until he lost control of his vehicle in the 800 block of North Walnut Street when he veered off the roadway and struck a utility pole, disabling the vehicle. Shed then allegedly fled on foot from the vehicle. Police searched the area at that time, including associated residences, but were unable to locate Shed. No injuries were reported in the incident.

Shed surrendered himself at the Buena Vista County Jail at approximately 10am today (Fri). He was booked on a BV County warrant charging him with Violation of Probation reference an original charge of Domestic Abuse Assault Impeding Air/Blood Flow Causing Bodily Injury.

Shed was also charged with Eluding, a class D felony…as well as several misdemeanors. He was booked into the BV County Jail on a five thousand dollar bond.
