Walk Out Planned Today at Storm Lake High School in Protest of L-G-B-T-Q Related Bills

Students in more than a dozen Iowa school districts, including Storm Lake, are planning to walk out of their classes today (Wed) to protest against bills in the Iowa legislature they say will hurt L-G-B-T-Q people.

The Storm Lake High School walk out is planned at noon today (Wed). Walkouts are also planned this (Wed) afternoon at schools in Ankeny, Ames, Bettendorf, Des Moines, Fort Dodge, Iowa City, Johnston, Marion, Urbandale, Waukee, West Des Moines, and West Liberty. A student protest is also planned at Iowa State University.

Republican lawmakers are proposing a ban on gender reassignment surgery and hormone therapy for transgender youth.
