Unemployment Rates Up Around the Area

The unemployment rate has gone up in most area counties.

Buena Vista County’s July unemployment rate is 2.7-percent, up by one-tenth of a percent from June.

Cherokee County’s unemployment rate rose from two-percent in June to 2.2-percent in July…Ida County increased from 1.9 to two-percent…and Sac County jumped from 2.1 to 2.3…and Calhoun County went up slightly from 2.4 to 2.5.

Pocahontas County’s unemployment rate held steady at two-percent…and Clay County dropped slightly from 2.5 to 2.4-percent.

The statewide unemployment rate fell for the 7th consecutive month from 2.6-percent in June to 2.5-percent in July. The statewide labor force participation rate held steady at 67.8-percent.
