Unemployment numbers have gone up around the area, while the overall Iowa rate fell slightly in June.
Local unemployment data released today (Tues) by Iowa Workforce Development shows Buena Vista County’s unemployment rate for June is 2.6-percent, up from two-percent in May.
The unemployment rate in Cherokee County increased slightly from 1.9 to two-percent…Clay County rose from 2.1 to 2.5…Ida increased from 1.5 to 1.8…Calhoun went from two-percent to 2.4…Sac went up from 1.7 to 2.1…and the June unemployment rate in Pocahontas County is two-percent, up from 1.6 in May.
Iowa’s June unemployment rate is 2.6-percent, down a bit from 2.7-percent in May. The unemployment rate in Iowa has gone down every month since July of last year when it was 4.4-percent.
The state’s labor force participation rate increased from 67.6 in May to 67.8 in June.
