Local residents are reminded about a program that’s been established to help qualifying low-income homeowners and renters pay for a portion of their primary heating costs this winter.
The Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program, or LIHEAP, is not designed to pay a household’s total energy costs. The program provides supplemental assistance based on several factors including total household income, household size, dwelling type, and type of heating fuel, among others.
All households can apply up until April 30th. Buena Vista County residents can get guidelines and schedule an appointment by stopping at the Upper Des Moines Opportunity Office in Storm Lake at 620 Michigan Street, or call 732-1757.
