Two Storm Lake juveniles have been charged in connection to vehicle burglaries.
According to the Storm Lake Police Department, officers were called Thursday to the 700 block of Colonial Circle. Police were advised that property was taken from a vehicle in that area within the last hour. Police tracked footprints through the area to a residence in the 700 block of Northwestern Drive, and made contact with two juvenile suspects who were taken into custody.
Police allege they received numerous other reports of burglaries to vehicles in Storm Lake throughout the evening Thursday, and into Friday. Juvenile referrals were issued to a 13-year-old male from Storm Lake for 12 counts of Attempted Burglary to a Motor Vehicle, a serious misdemeanor…and three counts of Burglary to a Motor Vehicle, an aggravated misdemeanor. Police also issued juvenile referrals to another 13-year-old male from Storm Lake for one count of Attempted Burglary to a Motor Vehicle and one count of Burglary to a Motor Vehicle, an aggravated misdemeanor.
Both suspects were released to the Cherokee Youth Emergency Services Center for placement. The investigation is ongoing, and additional charges are possible.
