Two individuals received multiple charges following a traffic stop in Clay County.
According to the Clay County Sheriff’s Office, a deputy initiated a traffic stop for a speeding violation in the early morning hours on Wednesday. It was discovered the driver and a passenger in the front seat were consuming alcoholic beverages. The driver, 26-year-old Alex Clark of Emmetsburg was put through a series of field sobriety tests and was arrested for operating while intoxicated.
While Clark was being put through the tests, the passenger, 25-year-old Kinzer Gross of Sacramento, California exited the vehicle without permission. Gross was also put through field sobriety tests, and was also arrested for OWI. An open container of beer was found in Gross’s backpack. It was discovered that Gross was wanted on a Clay County warrant for failure to appear in court for Domestic Abuse Assault. A search of the vehicle turned up marijuana and drug paraphernalia.
Clark was charged with 2nd Offense Operating While Intoxicated, and 3rd Degree Possession of a Controlled Substance Marijuana, both aggravated misdemeanors…and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia and Speeding, both simple misdemeanors. Gross was charged with Public Intoxication, Open Container, and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. They were both booked into the Clay County Jail.
