Traffic Stop Lands Storm Lake Man in Jail on Several Charges

A Storm Lake man received multiple charges, including a felony charge, following a traffic stop late Monday evening.

According to the Storm Lake Police Department, the traffic stop regarding a moving violation was made by an officer at 9:15pm Monday on Sunrise Park Road. The driver of the vehicle was identified as 34-year-old Juan Lopez Guzman. Police were advised that Lopez Guzman’s driving status was barred in the State of Iowa. Lopez Guzman allegedly provided false identification information to the initiating officer, and showed signs of alcohol intoxication. Lopez Guzman was taken into custody on scene without incident and transported to the Buena Vista County Jail for further testing.

As a result of the traffic stop, Lopez Guzman was charged with 3rd Offense Operating While Intoxicated, a class D felony…Failure To Yield Half Of The Roadway, a simple misdemeanor…Driving While Barred, an aggravated misdemeanor…and False Reports, a simple misdemeanor. Lopez Guzman was booked into the BV County Jail on a 76-hundred dollar bond.
