Three teenagers have been arrested in connection to an alleged stabbing incident in Storm Lake.
According to the Storm Lake Police Department, officers were called to a fight at around 8:40 Tuesday night at the intersection of Seneca Street and East Lakeshore Drive. A 15-year-old male was suffering from a stab wound. He was transported by private vehicle from the scene to the Buena Vista Regional Medical Center, and was subsequently airlifted to another hospital.
Several of the suspects involved had fled the scene on foot northbound on Seneca Street. Investigators worked throughout the night Tuesday collecting evidence and executing search warrants at various Storm Lake residences.
A 15-year-old male has been charged with Willful Injury Causing Serious Injury, a class C felony…and Going Armed With Intent and Participating in a Riot, both Class D felonies. Another 15-year-old male, as well as a 17-year-old male, have each been charged with Participating in a Riot.
All three teenagers arrested so far are from Storm Lake. They were all transferred to the Juvenile Detention Center in Cherokee. Storm Lake Police are asking anyone with information or home surveillance video of the incident to contact them at 732-8010 or 749-2525.
The investigation is ongoing, and more arrests are anticipated. Assistant Police Chief Patrick Diekman estimates that between ten and 15 people were involved in the fight.
