Three Individuals Charged Following Clay County Traffic Stop

Three individuals received drug-related charges following a traffic stop in Clay County last weekend.

According to the Clay County Sheriff’s Office, a deputy initiated the traffic stop in the early morning hours last Sunday, November 17th on a vehicle for a speeding violation. The deputy smelled an odor of an alcoholic beverage emanating from the vehicle and saw a vape that was confirmed as a marijuana vape pen. Upon a search of the vehicle and persons, authorities discovered marijuana, drug paraphernalia, cocaine, alcohol, and nicotine products.

20-year-old James Watson from the town of Allison and 19-year-old Russel Bair of Otho were placed under arrest. 18-year-old Spence Bode of Cherokee was detained.

Watson was charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance Marijuana and Possession of a Controlled Substance Cocaine, both serious misdemeanors…and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, Speeding, No Insurance, Operating a Non-Registered Vehicle, Minor in Possession of Tobacco, and Minor in Possession of Alcohol, all simple misdemeanors. Watson was booked into the Clay County Jail on a one thousand dollar bond.

Bair was charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance Marijuana, Minor in Possession of Alcohol, and Minor in Possession of Tobacco. He was held on a one thousand dollar bond.

Bode was cited and released on charges of Minor in Possession of Alcohol and Minor in Possession of Tobacco.
