Teens Arrested Following Pursuit in Storm Lake

Two teenagers were arrested following a brief pursuit in Storm Lake this past weekend.

According to the Storm Lake Police Department, an officer observed a vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed shortly before 8:30 Saturday evening in the 300 block of Lake Avenue. Officers attempted a traffic stop, but the driver led officers on a short pursuit that ended in the 900 block of Lake Avenue where the vehicle stopped and the occupants exited and fled on foot. Officers soon located the occupants identified as 18-year-old Lewciana Reyes of Lincoln, Nebraska, and 18-year-old Andrew Romero of Sioux City. Storm Lake Police were later informed that the vehicle had been reported stolen in Sioux City last Friday.

Reyes was charged with Aiding and Abetting Eluding, a class D felony…Possession of Marijuana, a serious misdemeanor…and Interference With Official Acts, a simple misdemeanor. Reyes was booked into the Buena Vista County Jail on a 63-hundred dollar bond.

Romero was also charged with Eluding and Interference With Official Acts, as well as Reckless Driving, seven counts of Failure to Obey a Stop Sign, Operating a Vehicle on the Wrong Side of the Roadway, Parking Where Prohibited, Failure to Maintain Control, Driving Under Suspension, and Speeding. A warrant was also issued and served on Romero for Violation of Parole. Romero was booked into jail on a 20-thousand dollar bond.
