Sunrise Campground Manager Recommends Changes

Some changes were proposed for the Sunrise Campground during Monday’s Storm Lake City Council meeting.

Campground manager Kim Woltman is requesting that the ten-percent discount be eliminated for long-term campers, which is defined as guests who stay for 30 consecutive nights…

Woltman said they see a lot of requests for long-term camping. She said the campground has about a 95 percent occupancy rate on weekends, and wants to offer discount coupons to try to improve occupancy during weekdays…

Another proposed change concerns early check-ins, as Woltman said some campers have been arriving well before the check-in time of 3pm, sometimes as early as 10am…

Woltman also proposed adding a late check-out charge of ten dollars.

Discussion on the proposed changes will continue, as City Manager Keri Navratil said campground rates will be discussed at the next council meeting on January 2nd. Reservations can be made for the upcoming season starting in February.

There are a total of one hundred sites available at the Sunrise Campground.
