Storm Lake’s Annual Event Featuring Chainsaw Carving and More Happens Next Weekend

The Wood Wine And Blues Festival will take place in Storm Lake’s Sunset Park next weekend Friday through Sunday August 18th through the 20th.

The chainsaw carving competition gets underway next Friday featuring six artists from around the country. Visitors can watch the work from 8am to 5pm that day. The Quick Carve event is set for 6:30 to 7:30pm next Friday evening.

Several events are scheduled for next Saturday, August 19th. The “Storm The Lake” Hy-Noon Kiwanis Triathlon/Duathlon will begin at 8am at Awaysis Beach. Chainsaw carving resumes from 8am to 5pm. Wineries will be sharing their wares in Sunset Park next Saturday afternoon. Food trucks and vendors will be available from 10am to 6pm. The Community Education Cornhole Tournament happens from 2 to 5pm, and live music starts at noon.

Chainsaw carving will conclude on Sunday, August 20th from 8am to 3:30pm. The awards ceremony starts at 4pm. Each artist’s competition sculpture will remain in the Storm Lake community. More live music will also be featured that day.
