Storm Lake Woman Charged in Connection to Stolen Vehicle Incident From Earlier in the Year

A Storm Lake woman has been charged in connection to a stolen vehicle incident from earlier this year.

According to the Storm Lake Police Department, in the early morning hours of April 30th, officers were called on a report of a stolen vehicle from a residence in the 500 block of Oneida Street. Officers received identifying information on the stolen vehicle, which was subsequently entered into a nationwide law enforcement database.

On May 2nd, Storm Lake Police were notified that the reported stolen vehicle was located abandoned in rural Woodbury County. Storm Lake Police subsequently processed the vehicle for evidence, and several articles were seized and sent to the State Crime Lab in Ankeny for processing.

Last Tuesday July 12th, Storm Lake Police investigators received evidence reports from the Crime Lab indicating evidence that a suspect identified as 28-year-old Edna Garza of Storm Lake was present inside the vehicle.

This past Saturday, Garza was served with several charges inside the Buena Vista County Jail including 2nd Degree Theft of a Motor Vehicle, a class D felony. Garza was held on a five-thousand dollar bond.

The Storm Lake Police Department was assisted in the investigation by the Woodbury County Sheriff’s Office.

Garza has had several run-ins with the law in the past. Back on April 5th, Garza was arrested by Storm Lake Police on a felony charge of 3rd Offense Possession of a Controlled Substance.
