Storm Lake Woman Arrested After Cats Found to be Living in Poor Conditions

A Storm Lake woman has been arrested on several charges related to animal neglect.

According to the Storm Lake Police Department, officers executed a search warrant back on September 19th at 220 Russell Street to check on the welfare of animals within the residence. Police allege that all eleven cats inside the home were suffering from various health issues. Animal waste was present throughout the residence. All of the animals were seized and transported to the Lake Animal Hospital for medical evaluations.

53-year-old Angela Andrade was taken into custody today (Thur) on multiple Buena Vista County warrants. Andrade is charged with one count of Animal Neglect Causing Serious Injury, an aggravated misdemeanor…one count of Animal Neglect With Injury, a serious misdemeanor…and nine counts of Animal Neglect No Injury, a simple misdemeanor.

Andrade was booked into the Buena Vista County Jail on a 45-hundred dollar bond. The Storm Lake Police Department was assisted in the investigation by the Lake Animal Hospital and BV County Attorney’s Office.
