The City of Storm Lake will host a Volunteer Appreciation reception next Tuesday, November 12th from 5:30 to 7:30pm at the Awaysis Ballroom at King’s Pointe Resort.
The event will provide an opportunity for nonprofits and volunteer groups to network and learn from one another. There will be a slide presentation to feature roles volunteers play in Storm Lake. Hors d’ oervres will be served.
Iowa House Representative Megan Jones will be the special guest for the event. Along with serving in the Iowa State Legislature, Megan is an active volunteer, and a board member of Keep Iowa Beautiful. She will speak on the role of volunteers, preserving and promoting Iowa treasures, and the Hometown Pride program. Storm Lake and ten other communities in the area have formed a Hometown Pride regional coalition to grow civic pride and enhance community amenities.
Those who volunteer in any capacity in Storm Lake are invited to attend. The Volunteer Appreciation reception began last year at the suggestion of Mayor Mike Porsch.
