A joint work session with the City of Storm Lake and Storm Lake United Executive Board was held at this week’s city council meeting.

SLU Board Vice President Gary Sterling said several people were polled on the organization’s strengths and weaknesses…
Sterling said Storm Lake United has many opportunities and ways to drive business, educational opportunities, and more to its members, and identified some strategic priorities…
Sterling said the board wants to reevaluate the purpose and vision of Storm Lake United, and said they plan to work with the city over the next few months to develop a three-year plan…
Sterling said Storm Lake United has dealt with financial challenges, but still could end up breaking even this year.
The City of Storm Lake has been assisting SLU with organizing events, and will continue to do so for the rest of the year. Mayor Mike Porsch said the city needs a chamber, and hopes together they can come up with a good plan for the future by the early portion of next year, and find the right person to lead the organization.
