On Wednesday, a mechanical failure at the Storm Lake Water Treatment plant resulted in some water discoloration.
According to the City of Storm Lake, the issue resulted in some residents noticing brief discoloration in drinking water. Due to the failure, some water that may appear slightly cloudy or discolored was released into the system. The situation was quickly resolved with no service interruption.
The affected water is still safe to consume and meets all of the state and federal regulations for drinking water. Any discoloration Storm Lake residents may notice is expected to clear up quickly as water moves through the system.
