The Star Spangled Spectacular’s 2023 Fundraising goal was set at $40,000. The goal was smashed more than a week in advance of Storm Lake’s annual Independence Day Celebration. The goal amount was set by Co-Chairs Josh Newhouse and Matt Brostad.
They received just over $44,000 from 314 benefactors in cash and in-kind donations, breaking last year’s (2022) record. Newhouse expressed how grateful they are to all the donors and how they are “proud to demonstrate how well a community can come together to support a great tradition.”
There is still time to donate as bills from various vendors continue to come in after the celebration ends. Donation checks can be made out to Star Spangled Spectacular and sent to Josh Newhouse, Fundraising Chair, PO Box 457, Storm Lake, IA 50588. Donations can also be made online at www.starspangledspectacular.net/donations.
