Storm Lake Star Spangled Spectacular Begins Today

The Storm Lake Star Spangled Spectacular gets underway today in honor of the city’s sesquicentennial. There are lots of fun events set in store to take part in at Sunset Park.

The Classic Car Parade will start at 4:45 pm with the food vendors opening up at 5 o’clock. Also at 5, there will be children’s face painting, balloons, and circus events. An hour later, at 6, the Kiddie Parade and the Classic Car Show will coincide together.

Don’t miss a performance from the Storm Lake Municipal Band at 5:30 pm, followed by The Pork Tornadoes at 7.

Tuesday, July 4th

The parade on Tuesday will feature highly-anticipated entries representing various nations and cultures from around the world. A new feature in this year’s parade will be the Smokin’ Hereford’s barbecue calf mascot. The lineup will consist of decorated floats, fire trucks, police vehicles, bicycles, and more. This year’s parade Grand Marshals will be the Storm Lake Fire Department.

The parade will be along Lakeshore Drive at 10:30 am on Tuesday. The Star Spangled Spectacular theme this year is “Three Cheers to 150 Years” in honor of the city’s sesquicentennial. For a full list of events, check out
