The Storm Lake St. Mary’s community celebrated Veterans the day before Veterans Day last Friday, November 10th in the school gymnasium.
As Veterans were seated at the beginning of the program, they were given handmade thank-you cards by St. Mary’s students. Students in 3rd and 8th grades performed patriotic songs. The guest speaker was Senior Airman Abby Cunningham of the U.S. Air Force. The event concluded with a tribute video, and the entire student body lined up to personally express gratitude to each Veteran through handshakes or fist bumps.
Storm Lake St. Mary’s anticipates hosting a Veterans celebration event every year going forward. All Veterans are invited to future programs.
