Storm Lake School District Implementing New Math Curriculum

The Storm Lake School Board on Wednesday approved a new math curriculum program for younger grades in the district.

The board approved adopting the “i-Ready” program by Curriculum Associates for math in grades kindergarten through five. Elementary Principal Barb Lange said staff in her building piloted “i-Ready” and one other program this spring…

A pilot effort also took place at the Early Elementary Building, and principal Heath Stille highlighted some of the features of “i-Ready”…

Superintendent Stacey Cole said the district has needed to adopt math materials for at least ten years…

The “i-Ready” curriculum will be implemented for the next five years at a price of 315-thousand dollars during that span.

The board also approved universal free breakfast and set the reduced lunch price to zero dollars for the 2024-2025 school year.

Stacey Cole is the Storm Lake superintendent…

Cole said this will allow the district to better serve students and spend down the Nutrition Fund balance.
