Two Storm Lake police officers received Hero Awards from the Mothers Against Drunk Driving organization.
Gerardo Bravo and Thomas Lane were among those honored at an event organized last Thursday by Mothers Against Drunk Driving and the Iowa Cubs. The awards were given to individuals who went above and beyond to save lives through enforcement and education of impaired driving laws last year.
MADD Iowa honored 37 officers from across the state with MADD Hero pins and certificates. The officers were nominated by others in their department for their efforts in saving lives through traffic enforcement and public education. MADD Iowa also gave more than 100 complimentary tickets to the game to first responders and their families through a foundation contribution.
