Mandatory water conservation remains in place for the City of Storm Lake and the areas where it provides water service.
According to the city, water use levels have remained fairly high. The full listing of restrictions remain in place until further notice…
Lawn watering will only be allowed on Tuesdays, Thursdays, Saturdays, and Sundays outside the hours of 8am and 8pm. Residents are encouraged to use sprinklers in an efficient manner so water is not wasted on sidewalks and driveways. When watering gardens and flowers, avoid the peak heat of the day when the water evaporates away more quickly.
Residential car washing will be allowed at any time on Saturdays and Sundays. Recent water demand has been slightly lower on those days. Residents are still encouraged to wash vehicles in a way so that water is not wasted running into storm sewers.
Business and home power washing is only allowed on Saturdays and Sundays. Power washing on weekdays may be done only with City permission.
Swimming pools can be filled or re-filled only on Saturdays and Sundays. Water can be added to a pool to replace evaporation loss as needed.
Water use to clean driveways and sidewalks should continue to be avoided. Residents should use a broom or blower to clean concrete areas.
