Storm Lake Man Charged With Assault; Victim Seriously Injured

A Storm Lake man has been charged with assault stemming from an alleged incident that happened last week.

The Storm Lake Police Department was reportedly called to the 200 block of West Milwaukee Avenue on Monday, September 11th. A male victim told officers that he was walking in a parking lot in that area when a vehicle drove by. The vehicle stopped and a man identified as 31-year-old Jermaine Ford exited the vehicle and engaged in an argument with the victim. During the argument, Ford allegedly struck the victim in the neck area with his fist and made a racial comment. The victim admitted himself to the Buena Vista Regional Medical Center later that day to be treated for serious neck injuries.

On Wednesday of this week, Storm Lake Police took Ford into custody at the Buena Vista County Courthouse. He was charged with Assault Causing Serious Injury, a class D felony…and Assault In Violation Of Individual Rights Causing Injury, an aggravated misdemeanor. Ford was booked into the Buena Vista County Jail on a seven-thousand dollar bond.
