Storm Lake Man Charged in Connection to Stolen Vehicle

A Storm Lake man was arrested in connection to a stolen vehicle last week in Webster County.

According to Storm Lake Police, the department responded to a stolen vehicle report at 820 Ontario Street last Wednesday, November 1st. Officers were advised that a vehicle was left on the property with keys inside, and the vehicle was taken by an unknown individual during the previous evening. After police entered the vehicle into a nationwide stolen property database, they learned the vehicle was involved in a theft investigation in Webster County. The suspect, 25-year-old Kaw Pa Thaw, was arrested by the Webster County Sheriff’s Office. The stolen vehicle was recovered and impounded by the Webster County Sheriff. Storm Lake Police were informed that Thaw had since been released from jail.

At around 9:30 last (Mon) evening, Storm Lake Police were again called to 820 Ontario Street for a report of trespassing on the property. Police located the suspect, identified as Thaw, and he was taken into custody without incident.

Thaw was charged with 2nd Degree Theft, a class D felony in regard to the November 1st incident. Thaw was booked into the Buena Vista County Jail on a five-thousand dollar bond.
