Storm Lake Man Charged in Alleged Assault Incident

A Storm Lake man was arrested this past weekend following an alleged assault incident.

According to the Storm Lake Police Department, officers were called to the 17 hundred block of Tulip Lane at approximately 1:40am Sunday. Police were advised that the suspect in the incident, 26-year-old Luis Fuentes Rivas, had fled the scene on foot running eastbound from the area. A female victim alleged that Fuentes Rivas had assaulted her in the 500 block of Erie Street by striking her in the back of the head. The victim fled the scene in a vehicle to the 17 hundred block of Tulip Lane, where the victim alleged that Fuentes Rivas encountered the victim’s vehicle, opened the door, and struck a male within the vehicle. Both individuals sustained minor injuries, which did not require treatment.

The Storm Lake Police Department and the Buena Vista County Sheriff’s Office conducted a search and located Fuentes Rivas in the 12 hundred mile of 600th Street in Storm Lake. He was taken into custody without incident. Fuentes Rivas was charged with 2nd Degree Burglary, a class C felony…and Domestic Abuse Assault, a simple misdemeanor. He was booked without bond into the Buena Vista County Jail.
