Storm Lake Man Charged for Stealing Items from Vehicles in Tyson Foods Parking Lot

A Storm Lake man was arrested for stealing items from vehicles in the Tyson Pork Plant parking lot area.

Storm Lake Police were called to the area around 6:30 Tuesday morning. Tyson security officers reported that they saw a person trying to enter parked cars in the parking lot. A clothing description was provided of the suspect, who was located at the scene and identified by police as 29-year-old Toe Kye of Storm Lake.

Kye allegedly entered unlocked parked cars and removed items from the vehicles. Kye was charged with three counts of Burglary to a Motor Vehicle, an aggravated misdemeanor. He was booked into the Buena Vista County Jail on a two-thousand dollar bond.

The investigation is continuing, and more charges are possible.

Storm Lake Police Chief Chris Cole reminds residents that locking your car, removing the keys, and removing or hiding valuables will often prevent crimes of opportunity.
