Storm Lake Man Charged Following Alleged Assault

A Storm Lake man was arrested on multiple felony charges after an assault incident.

According to the Storm Lake Police Department, officers responded to the apartments at 801 Erie Street at around 9:45 last (Wed) night. Officers were met outside by witnesses and the reported victim of the assault. Officers then observed a male suspect, later identified as 29-year-old Dacry Rapay of Storm Lake, exit the apartment building armed with a knife. Police allege Rapay walked towards the victim, at which time officers intervened and deployed a Taser device, subduing Rapay and taking him into custody.

Following an on-scene investigation, police allege Rapay assaulted a female within the residence at 801 Erie Street by throwing a knife at the victim and then striking her in the head area several times. Police further allege Rapay caused an estimated 25-hundred dollars in damage to the victim’s vehicle.

Rapay was charged with Going Armed With Intent, Interference With Official Acts With Weapon, and 2nd Degree Criminal Mischief, all class D felonies…Domestic Abuse Assault While Displaying Weapon, an aggravated misdemeanor…and Public Intoxication, a simple misdemeanor.

Rapay was booked into the Buena Vista County Jail on a 17-thousand 300-dollar bond.
