Storm Lake Man Accused of Striking an Individual With Replica Handgun

A Storm Lake man was arrested after allegedly striking someone with a replica handgun.

According to the Storm Lake Police Department, officers responded to a report of an assault at around 11:30 Sunday night in the 600 block of Otsego Street. A victim claimed that 36-year-old Diego Figueroa-Gonzalez threatened them outside of a residence by pointing a handgun at the victim’s head, and striking the victim with it several times. The victim was uninjured. The gun turned out to be a replica BB gun pistol. Figueroa-Gonzalez fled the scene on foot prior to the arrival of officers.

Figueroa-Gonzalez was located shortly afterward at 607 Elmwood Drive in Storm Lake, where he was taken into custody without incident. A search warrant was obtained for the residence, and police recovered the replica pistol, as well as drug paraphernalia, and a quantity of suspected methamphetamine.

Figueroa-Gonzalez was charged with Assault While Displaying a Dangerous Weapon, an aggravated misdemeanor…and 3rd Degree Harassment and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, both simple misdemeanors. Figueroa-Gonzalez was booked into the Buena Vista County Jail on a 26 hundred dollar bond. The investigation is ongoing, and additional charges are possible.
