Storm Lake LifeServe Blood Drives 2023 Recap

Over 12 hundred units of blood were collected at 34 LifeServe Blood Center blood drives in Storm Lake last year.

The amount of blood collected has the ability to save around 36 hundred local lives. The blood drives were hosted to support the Buena Vista Regional Medical Center and over 150 other hospitals served by LifeServe.

McKenzie Herrig was given a special mention by LifeServe for hosting a scholarship blood drive last month which aided in saving up to 75 local lives.

Several local donors hit milestones with their most recent donation including Bradley Anderson, who has now given 14 gallons of blood…Patricia Archer 13 gallons…Jean Cashman and Ronald Paterson nine gallons…Lilly Tyrrell eight gallons…Jeremy Deitering, Courtney Goodchild, and Brian Sievers three gallons…Mary Droessler and Margie Robinson two gallons…and Harlan Matsovsky, Manuel Padilla, Gary Devereaux, and Alan Slight have donated one gallon of blood.

The 5th annual Blue Blood Drive in Storm Lake will be held this coming Monday, January 8th from 11am to 4:30pm at St. Mark’s Lutheran Church.

A blood drive is also scheduled on Friday, January 19th from 9:30am to 1:30pm at the United Methodist Church in Storm Lake.
