Storm Lake Library Receiving a Literacy Grant

The Storm Lake Public Library is purchasing an array of new children’s books with help from an Iowa health care program.

Iowa Total Care has chosen the Storm Lake Library to be apart of the 100 Libraries in the Iowa Literacy Program. The program is only being awarded to 100 libraries across the state. The Storm Lake Library will be granted $500 and a literacy toolkit to support kids’ literacy advancement.

Children 10 and younger can receive a “Doc’s Kid Club” Carry Bag. According to Library Director Elizabeth Huff, the funds have allowed the library to bring in fresh materials for the children’s department, and replenish some of the well-loved books that have shown their age due to popular use.
