A Storm Lake juvenile has received multiple charges for allegedly breaking into the local middle school last week and causing damage within the building.
The Storm Lake Police Department was notified of the incident around 6am last Friday, May 24th. Officers discovered signs of forced entry and damage, which led to an investigation and a review of video surveillance. Police allege an 11-year-old male entered the Storm Lake Middle School without permission late in the evening of May 23rd and subsequently caused approximately 500 dollars in damage to a glass window within the school.
The 11-year-old was issued referrals for 3rd Degree Burglary, a class D felony…and 4th Degree Criminal Mischief, a serious misdemeanor. He was released to a parent pending an appearance in juvenile court.
