Storm Lake High School Students Receive Recognition at Statewide Summer Innovation Program

A couple of Storm Lake High School students received recognition at the recent Iowa Business Horizons Summer Innovation Program at Drake University.

Business Horizons is a five-day innovation simulation for high school students to help them better understand how their strengths and skills connect to the business world and the real world. Attendees combined hands-on experiences with team-oriented challenges to foster their problem-solving, creativity, and leadership skills.

Storm Lake High School junior Jennie Gutierrez was selected by industry advisers to become the graduation speaker at the event. She was also chosen to receive the “Industry A’s Character Counts Award” for displaying extraordinary character at the event. This award is given to one student per industry group. Gutierrez was also nominated in “Industry A” to serve as their industry’s project manager.

Storm Lake High School sophomore Beimnet Amanuel was nominated to serve as the “Industry D” project manager. Amanuel’s leadership helped her industry group win the “Business Horizons 2023 Investor Presentation Award.”
