Storm Lake Early Elementary School is one of just 12 schools statewide to receive a 2022 STEM BEST Program award.
The program is headed by Governor Kim Reynolds’ STEM Advisory Council. It aims to create partnerships between K-12 schools and community employers. Storm Lake Early Elementary was recognized for its efforts to leverage community partnerships to expose students to STEM experiences from an early age. STEM/Media teacher Jacquie Drey wrote the grant that resulted in the award for Storm Lake.
The purpose of the STEM Advisory Council is to expose students to new experiences in STEM careers and highlight the essential skills required in today’s workforce. The goals are achieved through a program that stimulates collaboration between schools and businesses to create high-quality STEM coursework.
