Storm Lake City Council Will Consider Joining State Program to Replace a Dock and to Add Public Restroom at a Boat Ramp

At their regular session meeting today (Mon), the Storm Lake City Council will consider joining the state’s Water Recreation Access Cost-Share Program.

The program is available for constructing or improving boat access facilities to Iowa’s lakes and streams. Funding is provided by marine fuel tax revenue. The state pays 75 percent of the cost of a project, with a required 25 percent local match. The City of Storm Lake wants to use funding for a public restroom at the Sunrise Park boat ramp and replace the dock at the ramp.

Also on the agenda, a public hearing is expected to be set regarding changes to the city’s cat ordinance, and the council will consider approving the second readings of animal control sections pertaining to dogs and vicious animals.

The Storm Lake City Council meeting is open to the public, and begins at 5pm today (Mon) at City Hall. The meeting can also be accessed via computer or phone.
