Storm Lake City Council Hears Update from Iowa Lakes Corridor Development

The Storm Lake City Council heard an update from the Iowa Lakes Corridor Development Corporation Monday.

A disaster resources page is available on the company’s website.

Administration/Communication Coordinator Alyssa Peterson said they recently held their 18th annual Okoboji Entrepreneurial Institute. This year, 28 students from six different universities and colleges in the state participated, including Buena Vista University…

Peterson said a follow-up survey with the students found that 75 percent said they would consider starting a business in the Corridor region.

Peterson also revealed that the β€œMy Town” episode featuring the Corridor will make its theatrical debut in the Twin Cities Film Fest next month. The public premiere will be in November.

Corridor Senior Vice President Trevor Smith highlighted a Homegrown Talent Initiative that started in August…

Smith said a golf tournament in Spencer this year raised seven thousand dollars for the program, which will allow them to give out multiple grants next spring. They’re looking to expand the program, and more information will be released this fall.
