Storm Lake Charter School Receiving Expansion Grant

The Storm Lake Charter School is among 11 in the state that will receive a portion of nearly four million dollars in grant funding through the Iowa Charter Start-Up and Expansion Grant Program.

The Storm Lake Charter School is getting 200 thousand dollars that can be used to expand career and technical education programming, increase career pathway opportunities, and equip classrooms due to growing enrollment or expansion into additional grades.

The grant funding announcement was made today (Fri) by Governor Reynolds and the Iowa Department of Education. Charter Schools are tuition-free, independently operated public schools that operate separately from their local school district. Public charter schools have their own board of directors, and have the ability to design their curriculum and classrooms to meet educational objectives.

Funds for the Iowa Charter Start-Up and Expansion Grant Program are provided through State and Local Fiscal Recovery Funds provided through the American Rescue Plan Act of 2021.
