Stewart Memorial Community Hospital Chief Executive Officer Cindy Carstens has announced that she will retire at the end of this year.
Carstens started at Stewart Memorial in 2008 as the organization’s Chief Nursing Officer. She was appointed CEO in 2016. During her tenure, Carstens played a key role in provider recruitment, enlisting multiple physicians, and advanced practice practitioners for primary care and specialty services to the Lake City community. Carstens also oversaw multiple renovations and building projects including the current 31-million dollar building project that is slated to be finished in September of this year.
A job posting for Stewart Memorial Community Hospital’s CEO position will go live on July 10th. Over the coming months, UnityPoint Health Fort Dodge leadership will collaborate with the SMCH Board of Directors to identify the next CEO for the organization.
