Spencer Teen Allegedly Made Terrorism Threat on Social Media

A juvenile in Spencer was arrested for making a terrorism threat on social media.

According to the Clay County Sheriff’s Office, the arrest was made last (Mon) night at approximately 10:45pm. The sheriff’s office was contacted by the FBI regarding some concerning messages sent via Snap Chat. The FBI informed the sheriff’s office that they received information from Snap Chat about a threat made by a juvenile who lives in Clay County. The juvenile made a threat to the Okoboji High School via text to her friends on Snap Chat.

After an investigation, the juvenile, who is a 15-year-old female, was arrested for Threat of Terrorism, a class D felony. The juvenile was later released into the custody of her parents.

The incident remains under investigation. The Clay County Attorney’s Office and Milford Police Department assisted in the investigation.
