A Spencer man has entered a guilty plea to a federal firearms charge.
According to a news release from the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Northern District of Iowa, 26-year-old Casey Tuttle pleaded guilty last Thursday to being a Prohibited Person in Possession of a Firearm. Tuttle was previously convicted on felony charges of 3rd Degree Burglary, 3rd or Subsequent Offense Possession of Methamphetamine, and 2nd Degree Burglary.
According to evidence presented at a plea hearing, back on April 4th Spencer Police stopped Tuttle riding his bike in the dark without taillights or reflectors. Tuttle was wanted on outstanding warrants. Tuttle was searched as he was being arrested, and authorities uncovered items including ammunition, a revolver, multiple knives, one gram of marijuana, one gram of methamphetamine, drug paraphernalia, a scale, and pills.
Tuttle is being held in the custody of a U.S. Marshal while he awaits sentencing.
