Spencer Man Charged Following Traffic Stop

A Spencer man was arrested on multiple charges following a traffic stop earlier this month.

According to the Clay County Sheriff’s Office, the incident happened last Monday, September 4th at the intersection of 475th Street and Highway 71. A deputy initiated a traffic stop for speeding. Upon making contact with the driver, the deputy smelled the odor of an alcoholic beverage emanating from the vehicle. The driver, 27-year-old Edgar Mancinas Meza, was arrested after he was put through field sobriety tests.

Meza was charged with 2nd Offense OWI and two counts of Child Endangerment, both aggravated misdemeanors…and Dark Windows and Speeding for driving close to one-hundred miles per hour in a 55 mile-per-hour zone, both simple misdemeanors. Meza was booked into the Clay County Jail.
