Spencer Man Arrested on Multiple Drug Charges and More

The execution of a search warrant has led to the arrest of a Spencer man on multiple felony drug and other charges.

According to the Spencer Police Department, authorities conducted the search in one of the units at 502 8th Street Southwest in Spencer on Wednesday of this week. During the search, authorities located cocaine, marijuana, mushrooms, THC concentrates, prescription pills, and a firearm.

42-year-old Leon Banks was charged with Possession of Cocaine and LSD With Intent to Deliver, both class B felonies…Possession of Marijuana With Intent to Deliver Marijuana, Failure to Affix a Drug Tax Stamp, and Felon in Possession of a Firearm, all class D felonies…Person Ineligible to Carry Dangerous Weapons and Unlawful Possession of Prescription Drugs, both serious misdemeanors…and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, a simple misdemeanor.

Banks is being held in the Clay County Jail on a 50-thousand dollar bond. Upon conviction, Banks faces possible penalty enhancements due to the violations occurring within one-thousand feet of a public school.

The Spencer Police Department was assisted by the Clay County Sheriff’s Office.
