Small Amount of Rain in Storm Lake Monday ; Storm Damage Reported Further North

While only a slight amount of rain (one-hundredth of an inch) fell in Storm Lake late yesterday (Mon), severe thunderstorms brought large hail and damaging wind to other parts of the region late Monday afternoon and evening.

Wind gusts in excess of 60 mph were reported with some of the activity, bringing down trees and tree limbs. Multiple large tree limbs were reported down throughout the town of Terril.

Hail up to the size of baseballs was reported near Gruver in Emmet county. Golf ball size hail fell near Ashton. A window was reportedly knocked out of a home by hail driven by strong wind near Everly.

Today’s (Tues) forecast calls for sunshine and the temperature getting to around 80 in the Storm Lake area. There’s a good chance for showers and thunderstorms tonight.
