Sioux Rapids Man Suffered Burn Injuries in Car Accident Earlier This Month

A Sioux Rapids man was injured in a single-vehicle accident earlier this month.

According to the Clay County Sheriff’s Office, the incident occurred during the evening of November 16th. The sheriff’s office received a call regarding a vehicle that was on fire in the ditch in the 49 hundred mile of 220th Avenue. The Sioux Rapids Fire Department arrived on the scene to extinguish the flames.

The driver was identified as 25-year-old Jose Ramon-Arrendondo of Sioux Rapids. An investigation led to the discovery of alcoholic beverages on the scene. Ramon-Arrendondo was determined to be under the influence of alcohol.

Ramon-Arrendondo sustained burns to his hands and was transported by private vehicle to the Spencer Municipal Hospital. He received multiple charges including Failure to Yield to the Right of Way. Damage to the vehicle was estimated at two-thousand dollars.
