Sioux City Man Who Allegedly Stole Vehicle Charged Following Chase in Pocahontas

A Sioux City man was arrested on multiple felony charges following a pursuit in Pocahontas earlier this week.

An officer was watching traffic along Highway 3 and Main Street when a vehicle crossed the intersection and failed to stop at the stop sign. The vehicle was traveling at a high rate of speed and nearly struck the police car. The officer pursued the car, which went through the business district, then west on 3rd Avenue Northwest, and finally came to a stop in the driveway of a residence at 13th Street Northwest and 3rd Avenue Northwest. The car was still in full gear when the driver fled, and the car crashed into a parked pickup in the driveway of the residence.

The suspect, identified as 26-year-old Keygan Egdorf, was captured shortly after the crash. Authorities determined that the vehicle Egdorf was driving was stolen from a business in Pocahontas shortly before the pursuit.

Egdorf was charged with Eluding 2nd or Subsequent Offense, a class C felony…and 2nd Degree Theft, a class D felony. Numerous traffic charges were also filed including Reckless Driving, and Leaving The Scene of an Accident.
