Sioux Central Elementary Class Attends Spencer Hospital for Teddy Bear Clinic

First-grade students from the Sioux Central Community School District attended the Spencer Hospital earlier this week for a special Teddy Bear Clinic and hospital tour.

A news release from the hospital states that the experience is designed to create a positive and engaging experience, as well as familiarize young students with the hospital environment. Sioux Central first-graders visited key departments including a medical-surgical inpatient room, the pre-op and recovery areas in same-day surgery, the rehabilitative services therapy pool, the patient draw room in the laboratory, and x-ray machine in the diagnostic imaging department.

As part of the Teddy Bear Clinic, each child received a teddy bear to name and care for as they experienced various medical appointments. The hands-on clinic was made possible by the donation of teddy bears from the Build-A-Bear Foundation.
