A pickup truck accident resulted in the death of two people in Carroll County early Monday morning.
According to the Iowa State Patrol, the accident took place south of 150th Street on Highway 71 between Carroll and Auburn shortly before 8am Monday. A southbound driver was traveling on Highway 71 and passed another southbound vehicle. As the driver returned to the southbound lane, the vehicle lost control and entered a ditch. The ISP says the pickup was stopped after hitting a MidAmerican electric pole.
The ISP says the accident resulted in the death of the pickup’s driver, 41-year-old Joshua Shelton of Carroll, and the passenger, an unidentified female minor also from Carroll.
